Viessmann electric boilers – purely electric, energy efficient and clean burning
For industrial applications, it is important that boilers provide energy in an energy efficient and clean burning manner. In addition, high operational reliability and availability should be ensured. Efficient energy systems from Viessmann offer precisely these qualities – now also in the form of pure electric boilers for industry. Our range of products includes components and systems designed to work together. This is not only an economical and futureproof solution, but also enables use in diverse areas. Finally, the company has to pay fewer emissions charges because the Vitomax HS-E does not produce any flue gas emissions from COx or NOx.
What characterises the Vitomax HS-E electric boiler?
Viessmann electric boilers are basically characterised by the fact that they only use electricity to generate steam. This brings many benefits – not only in terms of climate friendliness due to avoiding fossil fuels, but also in terms of costs.
Compared to conventionally fired boilers in particular, the Viessmann electric boiler offers a number of benefits, especially when it comes to time saving. A faster cold start is possible, among other things, as burner start-up times are no longer required. In addition, system operators also benefit from the faster availability of the electric boiler from standby mode and from electric heat retention.
But the electric boiler also scores points on operation along with the processes themselves. The compensation of load peaks and the wide normal range is particularly impressive. In this way, partial load decreases can also be better managed. The Vitomax HS-E can also be used as a redundancy boiler. This increases the security of supply in industrial applications. If boilers operated with fossil fuels fail, running processes do not have to be interrupted. In this case, the electric boiler can be optimally used for bridging. Particularly impressive is the electric boiler's high efficiency of over 99 percent.
Benefits – cost and space savings
The Viessmann electric boiler also scores on the financial level. Where no fuel is needed, there is no need for fuel storage, fuel supply lines or burners. This saves money and reduces the space required in the boiler house. Another benefit of the Vitomax HS-E is that flue gas systems are no longer required, because if no fuel is burnt, no environmentally harmful flue gases are produced. The resulting smaller footprint and significantly reduced weight compared to conventional boilers offer further positive arguments for the use of electric boilers. In addition, the actual running costs of the electric boiler can be reduced by using cheaper electricity. You can either use night-time electricity or self-generated excess electricity.
How does the Vitomax HS-E function with regard to power consumption?
The Viessmann electric boiler uses excess electricity and can therefore utilise production peaks in power generation ecologically and economically. A heating cartridge converts the electricity into heat, which in turn is used to generate steam. The heating cartridge is a flange heater attached to the boiler via a connector, thereby complying with the applicable DIN standards. The wall thickness of up to 2.1 millimetres ensures high resistance to corrosion and mechanical loads. Depending on customer requirements, different immersion lengths of the heating cartridges of up to 4.5 metres are possible.
Significance for the energy transition
The electric boiler for industrial applications enables you to take a step in the direction of the energy transition. This system uses the power-to-heat principle, i.e. uses electricity to generate steam and heat. The increasing share of renewables, especially wind and solar, in the electricity grid can be used meaningfully in this way.
This already sets you off on a more climate-friendly path and ensures you a futureproof system solution. The Paris Agreement clearly states that global warming must not exceed 1.5 degrees Celsius. This goal can only be achieved if private and public investments support the implementation of these goals.
